Dr. Adam Shomstein
Dr. Shomstein attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he completed a rigorous dual degree program to receive his medical degree, as well as his MBA degree. He completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans. Dr. Shomstein went on to be accepted into the highly competitive accredited pain medicine fellowship at LSU which focused on proper diagnosis and treatment of pain, using both medical management and procedures such as epidurals, spinal cord stimulators and joint injections. Since opening his practice in St. Louis, Dr. Shomstein gained an interest in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy, and has since received his TMS Certification through Neuronetics.
Dr. Diana Mekler
Dr. Mekler was accepted to the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine 6 year program straight from high school. Like Dr. Shomstein, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans and continued her training after being accepted to the LSU pain medicine fellowship. Her mission is to improve her patients’ functional ability without the limitations of pain and help them avoid getting unnecessary surgery. Additionally, Dr. Mekler shares an interest in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy for a number of non-FDA approved diagnoses, and is TMS therapy certified through Neuronetics.
Kim Mercille has been in the field of medicine for nearly 25 years. Kim is a visionary healthcare professional with broad clinical knowledge that includes acute in-patient care, clinical and operations management, cardiac device and infusion sales and marketing, and worked independently as a nurse consultant for a number of years. She has great passion for her patients, and strives to educate the community on patient and health advocacy. Kim is the founder and co-owner of TMS Institute of America, as well as The Center for HealthCare Advocacy. She has written several e-books on various topics, such as prescription assistance, alternative medicine, how to save on health care, and how to appeal a denied health claim, in an effort to assist people in learning to take control of their own health and navigate today’s complex healthcare system. Tamara, our TMS Billing Specialist, has been in the health care billing industry for nearly 10 years. Prior to receiving her certification in billing, she worked in the banking industry and is a valuable asset to TMS Institute of America. Tamara is well-versed as a billing specialist, and specializes in working with insurers to obtain pre-authorization for the patients, and billing for treatment services. When not at work, Tamara enjoys spending time with her children and attending school-related events.
Jesse is the Lead Neuromodulation Technician, and obtained his certification in TMS Therapy through TMS Institute of America. Jesse is a graduate of Missouri State University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Sociology. Jesse has over 6 years experience working in the field of mental health, both in-patient and out-patient. Jesse brings much experience to the Institute has an incredible personality that our patients love, and is very compassionate toward his patients. When Jesse is not working he enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, and participating in marathons.
Grant M. joined TMS Institute of America to assist with the implementation of additional service locations. Grant has experience in physician sales and marketing and has worked in the banking industry for the past two years as a personal banker. Grant is TMS Therapy Certified and will assume the role of TMS Implementation Specialist. When Grant is not working he enjoys playing his guitar and spending time with family and friends.
Matthew is the TMS Coordinator at TMS Institute of America. Matthew has worked in the field of psychiatric medicine for over 6 years, and is very compassionate when caring for his patients. He has worked in the in-patient setting for most of his healthcare career, and is TMS therapy certified through Neuronetics.
